With hatred still pounding in the heart of Queen Dalian, the kingdom prepares for the impending explosion of revenge and rage. It is only a matter of time and initiative.

Meanwhile at the Maxilians there is a similar sense of expectation, however, it is one of complete joy as they (Marcus, Adesse and Kai) await the arrival of a second child. Tragically, the happiness is short-lived as mortal complications arise for both mother and child during labour. The dying princess pleads with Marcus to pass on the "living energy"- the gift of life she once gave to him - to their newborn daughter in order to ensure her survival. He does, and in the end, within the cries of the healthy infant, the disparate sounds of sorrow and joy, life and death reverberate. The child is given the name Mia.

As the Queen's plans for revenge unfold, Marcus finds himself at a momentous crossroads. In order for his motherless offspring to survive and grow with any sense of purpose, he must sacrifice his freedom to Queen Dalian. Any hope for the future depends on his choice. Abandoning his role as father, Marcus leaves them in the care of Master Pruinda their teacher. At the young age of 14, Kai has proudly and lovingly take on the role of her primary guardian and protector from the evil forces.

Two years pass and Mia, together with her protective brother Kai, is living under the care of Master Pruinda. Diligent students, the children progress rapidly under his tutelage and absorb the necessary teachings for maximum energy collection and its applications.

The Second Book of Carim foretells that "the child of Adesse Bercus will one day destroy the Kingdom of Omun" and thereby free those captive to Queen Dalian's hypnotic spell.

During the misalignment of the two suns, the gravitational pull on the Kingdom of Medina weakens. Consequently, with the physical descent of the kingdom, the most favourable time for Kai and Mia to visit both their abandoned home and their mother's burial site arrives. Similarly, it provides the Queen with opportune conditions for their capture.

Everything is at stake and the hour has come.

Queen Dalian's victory is nigh. The eternal "living energy", the immortal, absolute power she seeks - lies within the child Mia. The sequence of her actions is clear. First, retrieve the power. Secondly be rid of the child.
